Perpetual Sale Time

outnet.com

Wow, you know theres a recession when net a porter sets up an online 'outlet-mall'. The idea is a good one if rather strange since stores usually have outlets to get rid of old stock and the outlets are usually in less-than-accessible places so as to ensure they don't canabalise full-price sales. Online however, everywhere is equally accessible and there really isn't a signficant difference in service. I suppose this will just serve as the 'sale' section of net-a-porter with the additional interesting quirk of 'pop-up sales' whereby there are sudden sales for a few days. Now thats smart retailing; limited time always creates a sense of urgency and encourages impulse buying.

lane crawford

I really like Lane Crawford's new campaign; from the ads to getting tommy of jakandjil to blog on their website. The idea of capitalising on the blogging craze as well as the street-gawking, shoeporn-drooling of the younger internet savvy crowd is definately the way to go.

btw, the dress to the right is by thakoon and left by givenchy
(microtrend: thick straps?)

ban.do

pssshhht to UO's sad imitations, these are the real stuff of headgear-dreams. I especially love the white spidery one - aww, it just reminds of me white spider-lilies (the flowers, not the insect!)

Perfect to snazz up an outift for the garden tea party theme or even a boho look or even a classy night out (rhinestones!). These delightful creations are by a 2 girlfriend-stylists in LA, they also have about fivemillion (ok, maybe about a hundred?) more bandos for sale on their site and a limited (read: 4) selection of belts.

If only money was no object

I seriously need to start to try DIY-ing
(can you read the inertia in that sentence...)
