Overindulgence

And this is what Ali Michael is (not) eating for Thanksgiving:

Favorite Thanksgiving food: I'm vegan, so I won't be partaking in the turkey, casseroles, and pie like the rest of my family. I will probably just have a simple meal of steamed greens, beans, avocado, and maybe even a little piece of raw dark chocolate.

Do you overindulge on the holiday?: Thanksgiving for me is more of a time to see my family rather than a time to look forward to eating a huge meal, but maybe once I come back to New York, I'll have a little bit of raspberry-tofu pie from Souen in celebration. It's my favorite dessert when I do have one.

Wait, wasn't she supposed to be the model for the
whole healthy eating, no-stick-sickly-thin-models? ...

Italia Vogue 2005

Pap shots of Shannan Click, Alice Dodd, Liya Kebede, Hannelore Knuts, Missy Rayder, Hana Soukupova, Julia Stegner, Caroline Trentini, Amber Valette and Amy Wesson.

Seems like Mr Meisel has a knack for spot-on pop-culture photoshoots
(Wack Attack anyone? LOL)

Whats funnier (and impressive!) is how despite the pap shot hipster feel of it, I actually like the clothes XD

aussie fash

Aussie land, where boys where skirts, the seasons are reversed
and girls love vintage. Love the shiny shiny and the quirky shoes!

I'm just hoping to the infinitum that I get to go on exchange in Monash! (:

Was feeling particularly inspired to wear knee highs thanks to kirstendunst in marie antoinette. Yes, I'm talking about that scene where shes sitting up on bed, naked except for her white knee high socks with a blue ribbony bow and a fan covering the essentials, waiting for her loverboy. Sadly, no loverboy awaits here, but I still kind of like this knee-high socks idea (:

Tim Walker - UK Vogue Dec 2008

Ever since reading an article about him in UK vogue I've kept an eye out for photographer Tim Walker. He always has such fantastic (and fantasy) themes for his photographs that its hard for a die-hard-disney/fairytale/storybook lover to not adore his work. [Yes, I'm officially a self-confessed dork and yes, I spent my childhood with my nose stuck in Enid Blyton, Judy Blume and the like.] I just love how all his photos are always so fun!, exclaimation mark included!

So, long story short, basically this 'collaboration' with fellow storyteller Roald Dahl is pretty much a wet dream for me. <3 You know how there's food porn. To me, this is fashion porn. ahhhhh,,,

3 different prints and 7 shades of red all working together in perfect harmony.

Check out his recent book here. Its really stunning!
(Aside: Don't you just love the google-scanned-books function/feature/thingy?! I do honestly think it incentivises people to buy the actual books, I for one, definately all the more want this book!)

Lastly, from a vogue shoot ages ago with Lily Cole as who else? Rapunzel. Except as fashion would have it, she doesn't let down her long flowy locks but rather the train of her dress (:

More Americana Eds

American dreamin. [W Magazine]

I love the whole fantasy element of this photoshoot with elvis outfits, oversized objects (huge Jell-O shots anyone?) and the nods to the middriff-bearing gals of Britney Spears era. Also, the entire pop-culture craze of bruce lee cutouts and batman walking along hollywood boulevard. When you think about it, America is the perfect hyperbole, its just funny. -__-

Julien David

These scarves are gorgeous, particularly the first one. I especially like the styling of the shots and how once wrapped around the neck, they seem so much smaller. Now I just need to figure out how to drape my scarves like that!

Vivienne Westwood

"You might think that's really disingenuous of me, but I'm serious", she says. "I'm not here to defend [being a fashion designer], its something I do. I didn't want to do it in the first place, I wanted to read books, but I knew I was good at it. But don't consume crap, make a choice."

A fashion designer who rallies against consumerism and in her latest collection tells people "Don't Buy Clothes". Whose roots are in the then-alternative culture of punk, bondage and sex which started a trend turned mainstream. How often do you come across people who inspire change like that?

[interview here]

Aside, her exhibition "A life in Fashion" is showing in Hong Kong from 1st Dec to 31st January. ZOMG -- definately going.

Wintour, then

"wow"

This might be the only instance when you can use "hipster" and "Wintour" in the same sentence.

I wonder whether she looks back and cringes?

(and yes, even when she was a bra-less jeans + leggings kinda gal,
the hair
remained the same.)

PPQ

Lily Allen wearing center dress with bow leads to me discovering cool Brit label, located in the poshest (it is the most expensive property in Monopoly!) Mayfair district, PPQ.

6 things,

1. Blazers with shoulders are starting to seem oddly appealing right now

2. Cardigans as scarfs? Or scarfs that look like cardigans?

3. Easy breezy summer dresses (post shoulder-lipo of course)

4. Watch the video to see the black ruffled onesie in action.

5. Limited collection available at asos.com

6. Why is it that Brit fashion is always the best?
